ICDL Book of the Day at Google
December 16, 2005
The ICDL is now offering a special tool you can add to your free Google homepage called the "ICDL Book of the Day"!
The Google homepage allows you to put your favorite news, weather, sports, stock quotes, bookmarks, and other links all together on a single page for easy access. Now, the ICDL is available as another favorite item to add to your page! Each day, a different, randomly selected book is displayed in a small box on the page, with a link to the book as well as a link to find other books in the library.
To create a Google home page and add the ICDL Book of the Day feature, follow the directions below.
- If you don't already have a Google homepage, go to www.google.com/ig to create one. To begin, click on the "Personalize your Google homepage" link to begin adding and arranging whatever content you would like to appear on the page. When you are done, click the "Save page" button and follow the directions to create an account.
- Once you have created a Google homepage, select the "Add Content" link in the upper left of the page to open up the menu of items you can add to your page. Open the "Create a Section" link and add the following url:
http://www.childrenslibrary.org/library/basic/icdl-book-of-day.xmlThe ICDL Book of the Day will be added to your page.
- After the ICDL Book of the Day is added, you can drag it around the page to reposition it, and customize it using the "edit" link in the top right corner of the box. You can choose whether the tool has a green or white background, and whether or not to show the "Find more books" link.
